Samya Development Resources Private Limited (SAMYA) is a social enterprise, established in 2021 with the aim of promoting gender equity and inclusive social development. Our core expertise lies in delivering high-impact consultancy services, technical advisory and project implementation support—serving development organisations, civil society actors, philanthropic organisations, and corporates across India, Africa (Kenya), and South Asia.
We don’t just deliver assignments, we design ecosystems of change. We work with our clients to identify tailored solutions to help them develop organisation strategy, build organisation effectiveness, build/strengthen external communication, improve programme outcomes, and mainstream gender into the workspace, policies, and programmes.
Currently, Samya has a strong focus on addressing/preventing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and Violence Against Children (VAC), through the What Works 2 (WW2) programme, and Coalition of Good Schools. We are also strengthening capacities of Indian NGOs like Child Relief and You (CRY), Swayam, Jan Sahas, Talash, Foundation for Social Transformation, LAHI (Lend A Hand India) and Kolkata Sanved on integrating a gender lens into their programmes and organisational systems.

Samya’s distinctive feature, its Gender Integration Continuum — from Gender Responsive through Gender Mainstreaming to Gender Transformative approaches— consists of three interconnected approaches:
  • Gender Responsive

    • Recognises unique needs of women and gender-diverse individuals; pays attention to lived experience and developmental differences.

  • Gender Mainstreaming

    • Integrates a gender equality perspective at all stages of programme and project design, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Gender Transformative

      • Addresses structural and social root causes of gender inequality to create lasting change  in individuals and communities including the implementing organisation.

      Samya’s multi-disciplinary team comprises gender experts, sociologists, policy researchers, facilitators, and other thought leaders with over 25+ years of experience designing and implementing gender and inclusion programmes and policies across Asia and Africa, with non-profit, corporate, and philanthropic institutions. Samya also works with principal consultants and specialists from different fields to provide interdisciplinary expertise.
